This project develops an AI-based waste sorting system that processes waste items using computer vision techniques. The system identifies and categorizes each item for proper disposal or usage and places them in the respective bins using an autonomous mechanical system, improving efficiency and accuracy in waste management.
● Input system : ○ Organic waste : The waste product that is going to be processed by the system.
● Output system : ○ Sorted organic waste : The system will separate the elements into three categories (vegetables, meat and packets).
Option 1 :
Project Components Description
● Camera will be responsible for categorizing the items. ● Computing and model deployment will be hosted in Nvidia Jetson device. ● Conveyor belt will transfer items. ● Levers will be controlled by the AI model to sort each element to its respective bin.
Option 2 :
Smart bins : ● Operator puts elements in the specified bin. ● The camera AI verifies if it is in the correct bin or not. ● If ok, the bin door opens, else it doesn't.
